ROBERT GARDNER JR HOME

THE MAN

Robert Gardner Jr.

Robert arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1848, when “not a house [was] to be seen.” He promptly established a saw mill, built a home, and became the first mill to operate on what is now Millcreek.

THE HOUSE

Millcreek Namesake

Originally built of unpainted adobe brick, the House was built on the site of the Salt Lake’s first saw mill. Since then the house has undergone two major renovations, one in 1933 and another starting in 2013.
